For Schools

Provision for Schools

At Your Tempo provides commissioned Alternative Provision, SEND-informed coaching, and instrumental tuition for schools looking to extend what they can offer pupils without extending their own staffing. All sessions are delivered by a single, DBS-checked practitioner — one consistent adult across a pupil's placement, and one point of contact for your SENCO or office team.

Breadth of provision

Important: all SEND-informed coaching and mentoring is educational and coaching-based. It is not psychotherapy, counselling, or clinical treatment of any kind.

Sessions can be delivered on your site or at the Kings Langley venue, which has capacity for small-group and multi-room delivery when a group placement is a better fit than 1:1.

1:1 Tuition Pricing

Sessions are flexible — book weekly, fortnightly, or as you need them.

Safeguarding & compliance

Everything below is checked before a single session is booked — not promised after the fact.

  • Enhanced DBS check — held.
  • Public liability insurance — arranged via Musicians' Union.
  • Language & approach — educational and coaching framing throughout; no clinical or therapeutic claims are made in any provision.

This page is written so it can be lifted directly into a downloadable Provision Pack PDF for procurement teams — that PDF export is a near-term next step, not yet published.

For Families

1-2-1 & Home Education

Every learner moves at their own pace. At Your Tempo offers flexible one-to-one music tuition and SEND-informed coaching built around your child — whether you're looking for individual lessons, home education support, or group sessions. No syllabus timetable. Just learning at your tempo.

SEND coaching & mentoring

For autistic learners and learners with SEND, coaching and mentoring sessions are shaped around confidence, communication and engagement — never around a diagnosis. Sessions are one-to-one, paced by your child, and reviewed with you as things develop.

Important: these are educational and coaching sessions. They are not psychotherapy, counselling, or clinical treatment of any kind.

£60–£80/hour

Friday Sessions (Home Education)

Regular Friday group sessions — ensembles, skill-building, or collaborative projects. Designed around your home-ed schedule and built for learners to build confidence alongside other young musicians in a structured, supportive environment.

Timing & pricing: Friday sessions run during the school day. Pricing and available slots are being finalised for the September 2026 launch.

Home-ed group sessions

If your home-ed group would benefit from daytime group music sessions — ensemble work, skill-building, or just making music together — we can run those from the Kings Langley venue. Sessions are tailored to the group's level and interests: anything from choir or ensemble rehearsals to collaborative songwriting or production projects.

Group size & pricing: rates are set by group size and session length.

CoachingFor Everyone

Coaching for learners, performers, and professionals.

Personalized coaching for confidence, performance, learning support, and mentoring. Whether you're a student building skills, a performer managing anxiety, or an industry professional refining your craft — coaching is tailored to YOU.

Who coaching is for

Coaching isn't limited to one group or age. It's for anyone who wants to develop skills, build confidence, overcome challenges, or refine their approach to music and performance.

Students & Learners

Build confidence, overcome learning blocks, and develop a growth mindset. Coaching sits alongside or within music tuition to support your development.

Performers

Manage performance anxiety, refine stage presence, and develop mental resilience. Coaching for musicians who want to perform at their best.

Industry Professionals

Mentoring for established musicians, educators, and performers. Refine skills, explore new directions, and deepen your practice.

Teams & Groups

Group coaching for ensembles, bands, and collaborative projects. Build cohesion, communication, and collective excellence.

Coaching approaches

Coaching is flexible and personalized. Here's what we might explore together:

Blended with music

Coaching doesn't exist in isolation. It's woven into music sessions — whether you're learning piano, exploring songwriting, or preparing for a performance. The coaching element supports your musicianship, not instead of it.

Example: A guitar lesson might include technical skill-building plus coaching around performance anxiety before a gig. A singing session might blend vocal technique with confidence work.

Support evidence & development planning

For ongoing needs, clear plans are put together and individualised development plans are available on request. Reporting on progress, observations, and evidence is provided to support you in tracking growth and development.

Session formats & pricing

Coaching is personalized, so pricing and session length depend on what you need and what we're working on together.

Pricing note: Rates are set based on your specific needs, goals, and what we're working on. Some sessions may be different — get in touch to discuss what works for you.

About

About Jay

Jay

At Your Tempo is run personally by Jay, a multi-instrumental tutor with expertise across singing, guitar, music production, and more. Jay brings a unique background in educational consulting and programme development — helping music departments and educational services expand their provision for learners with SEND and Alternative Provision needs. Every session — one-to-one tuition, SEND coaching, or a Shared Tempo group — is delivered by Jay directly; there's no hand-off to a rotating roster of tutors.

Teaching philosophy

The name At Your Tempo isn't just branding — it's the approach. Sessions are paced by your child's readiness, confidence, and engagement — not by a pre-set syllabus or grade milestone. Progress is measured by what matters to you and your learner: developing skills, building confidence, discovering joy in music, or working toward specific goals. Skills grow through practice, experimentation, and persistence — not from being "naturally talented." This works differently from standard lessons because there's no clock pressure, no comparison to peers, and no "catching up." Every child moves at their own tempo, and that's where real learning happens.

Safeguarding & compliance

  • Enhanced DBS check — held.
  • Fully insured — public liability insurance in place.
  • Approach to SEND — educational and coaching-based throughout; never framed as therapy or clinical treatment.
